“BEAUTY CONNECTS PEOPLE” ITALY’S THEME STATEMENT AT EXPO 2020 DUBAI – AISOPOS

Italy’s participation project, approved by the organizers of Expo 2020 Dubai, coherently interprets the challenge launched by the Expo Dubai theme and sub-themes, by proposing a participation model geared towards sustainable development, capable of generating value shared by the other participants in the 2020 Universal Exhibition.

The Italy Pavilion at Expo Dubai builds on the experience of Expo Milano 2015, by pursuing the vision of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of the United Nations towards the creation of shared value.

The Italian Pavilion will be placed on the site of Expo 2020 Dubai, among the thematic areas "Opportunities" and "Sustainability", in an area of ​​the site of great attractiveness, also in relation to the expected visitor flows: it will rise on a lot of 3,420 square meters and will intercept the public traffic leaving the United Arab Emirates Pavilion (about 250 meters away) and in transit to the North Park, one of the main green spaces and meeting points of the whole Expo Dubai exhibition area and destined to host large events and public events. The project involves an influx of over 28 thousand visitors a day in the Italian pavilion, over 5 million visitors in the six months of the event. The proximity to the park, in addition to being a strong advantage in terms of attractiveness, will also ensure an excellent view of the pavilion, as there will be no structures that will hinder the front and side view. The Italian Pavilion will be close to those of India, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Japan and the United States.

The aim is to reveal Italian talent, though not merely as a national expression of excellence, beauty, art, science and technology, but as tangible proof of how skills, talent and intelligence can become the drivers of new training, entrepreneurial and professional opportunities.

Beauty as a strategic resource to shape the future based on dialogue and active collaboration between peoples and nations, respecting the values of self-determination, competition, rights, innovation and sustainable development.

The project will have to interpret the nature and objectives of the 2020 Exhibition, offering a model of participation, which is not just an exhibition, but much more, i.e. capable of giving shape and visibility to Italian skills and abilities already existing in the construction and implementation of internal and external spaces that represent expression of intelligent building systems , digital architecture, attractive elements generating visitors’ impressions.

The innovative and digital elements will have to act as amplifiers of the experience and establish a formal and structural dialogue with the architecture in which they are located. All this with the utmost attention to the theme of the sustainability of construction materials and plant engineering.
